Bout of Books 25 - Wrap Up

Another good Bout of Books!! I completed my loose goal of 14 books, finishing 15 on the week. Would have been more, if I hadn't been sucked into a game, but Rage 2 is soooooooooo much fun. :) The books were good too and it was a good time of reading. Now, I can game more and get back to writing too.

How did you do? Leave me a link and I'll come visit your wrap-up!

I visited every blog (sorry Twitter people, I don't do Twitter) listed before mine so far, and will visit every blog posting today. But I can't comment on blogs that just have the "google account" sign in to comment. I'm not sure why, probably one of my privacy settings, but it won't let me. I wish I could, I love commenting on all the blogs. :/

Bout of Books 25 - Day 6

Got back to reading some for DAy6, finished up two that I started Day 5 and read a short story. Will likely finish up the book started early this morning for the last book of the week, but maybe I'll do more. We'll see.

I visited sites until Day 5 but haven't discovered any new ones. Here are some bookish sites I like in general.

FictFact - Unfortunately has just closed it's doors. It was the best way to keep track of series. If you were a member, you can still sign on to download your book info. Gonna miss that place, it was the BEST way to keep track of series - I tracked over 200 of my series I read on there.
Fantastic Fiction
BookSirens - new-ish review site - like NetGalley only way smaller
Booksprout - Ditto
BookLikes - a variety of stuff going on here, haven't played around with it fully yet
r/booksuggestions - I'm always on here, recommending books

Bout of Books 25 - Day 5

I didn't finish a book today, for the first time this read-a-thon. I wanted to play some games instead. I played a little Rage 2 - which is fun but has tons of problems and a little poker on Red Dead Redemption 2. Other than those, I didn't do much else, only reading before I went to sleep, continuing one audiobook and starting a new ebook.

I had an unofficial goal of reading 14 books this week and even with taking the day off, it will be easily doable with 2 days left, probably even hit it on Saturday, so I don't have to worry about reading much on Sunday, when my Hubby will be off.

Bout of Books 25 - Day 3

Just like Twitter, I hate "emoji" or any kind of chat speak. We do not have cell phones (no, we're not barbaric - we have no need or want of them) and even if we did, I'd never ever use chat speak. Putting in a smilie face is the extent of my emoji / chat speak. So, no challenge for me today.

Yesterday was a lighter day of reading. We've never figured out why, but I don't read when my Hubby is here, even when He's doing His own thing. I didn't read during the day at all yesterday, just some before going to bed in the early morning and before bed last night. Still, got two books read, so can't complain!

Bout of Books 25 - Sign Up

It's that time of year again, time for Bout of Books 25. I'm signing up!

After spending my April writing (my first time ever, writing creatively, I joined Camp NaNoWriMo and wrote over 60k words) I'm ready for a week of reading! Not sure what I'm going to read for the week, but I have a few books in mind so far.

Who is joining me? Let me know if you have a blog and I will follow you!

Camp NaNoWriMo Wrap Up

Camp NaNoWriMo is Complete

It was a crazy month. I've never thought I would write anything and here I am, exactly two months (I think, I might be off by a day or two) after I wrote for the initial prompt. It's been so super crazy!

I knew I had the capacity to write 50k in a month, words are easy, and if it was letters to my penpals then I probably would have done it even sooner, though getting through 50k in less than 20 days is pretty good I think. It wasn't the words I was worried about, it was the ideas. I always said I wouldn't write because I lack imagination for it.

While I still find that true, I easily found the imagination for my work and, except for a missing point or two, it went so well for the month. But my main story BOOK wasn't all I wrote for. In total, I wrote 54,139 words for my main WIP, bringing the full book word count to 68,780 words. For those who don't know how much that would be in book form, it's roughly 170 pages. It sure seems longer when I read it. But still, not bad for a first attempt and I still have a lot of editing to do - only the first 3 chapters are edited. If I hadn't edited as much as I did, my word total would have been probably around 1-2k more, but I wanted to edit when I wasn't quite up to writing.

In addition to that, I wrote for two others. One day, the last chapter of what would be a prequel came to me and I wrote that - 1513 words. Then on the last day of Camp, I wanted to write a lot but didn't have that much more to write for my WIP, so I wrote a chapter and a half of what would be the next book - 5,310 words for that. So yes, three works-in-progress for Camp. I went from not even knowing there were Camps (though I new about regular NaNoWriMo) to writing for 3 separate books during it. CRAZY!! In all, in April, I wrote 60,962 words.

What's next?

My main novel needs editing. I only edited the first 3 chapters (let me know if you'd like to read them, they are available for critique) so the rest (20 or so chapters) need big big edits. That will come over May and June and I HOPE to have the edits done by the end of June. We'll see. Then, Camp is again in July! If edits are done and things are going well, I hope to pick up the 2nd book and continue with that, if I don't in the meantime. :)

Thank you to those of you who followed me through this. It wasn't many, but I appreciate those who did take the time to view my progress. You have my gratitude. If I do anything with this book of mine, I'd be glad to send you a copy, just message me on my email or Goodreads that you would like one and you followed my progress.

For now, Bout of Books is upcoming, and I need some time away from my book to write my penpals. Poor ladies have been so neglected this month. By the small stack of letters I have waiting on me, I might write another 50k in May after all. :)

For Camp NaNoWriMo I am challenging myself to write 50,000 words.
