Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon ~ Wrap-Up

Another Dewey's come and gone. It was a good night of reading and talking to a friend. :)

Which hour was most daunting for you?
At 5:30am my time, so hour 22? Got really sleepy for about a half hour.

Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
BookShot boos are short and quick mindless fun, at least in theory. Some are better than others. MG books are always a good choice.

Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next season?
Yeah, but nothing seems to change.... same thing I said last year.

What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?
Just reading my own books, it seems like Dewey's has become all about Twitter (which I hate), so I just do my own thing in my own tiny part of the world.

How many books did you read?
Completed 9 and started a feel good re-read which I got through 30%.

What were the names of the books you read?
See Below

Which book did you enjoy most?
My re-read of "The Great Zoo of China". Last year I was tired at the end of the 24 hours, so I listed to a re-read and it was a good way to end out the night. Decided I'd do the same this time and end the night with a re-read I enjoy.

Which did you enjoy least?
Darcy Crap ~ one of the worst books I've ever read in my life!

How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?
I'll probably be back to read again. Maybe my new Challenge Group at GoodReads will host a challenge. That might be fun, to do something different and give our group some exposure. :D

Updates!!

Total number of books I've read: 9
Total Pages Read: 2,294 pages
Total Time Read: 21 hours, 15 minutes

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon ~ Mid Event Survey

Little late with my mid-event survery, but that's because the Dewey's website hadn't updated for me since hour 10. Dunno what was up with that. So, late, but better than nothing

Mid-Event Survey

1. What are you reading right now?
At Hour 12 ~ 8pm for me, I was finishing up "The Gauntlet". Right now, at Hour 19, I am listening to "Pack of Lies"

2. How many books have you read so far?
At the 12th hour I was finishing up my 4th book of the day. Now, at Hour 19, I'm almost done with my 7th.

3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon?
Getting to my audio re-read of Great Zoo of China. It'll be what I start when I'm really really crashing (typically 3-4am my time). I may not get it done, but gonna end the 24 hours with it.

4. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those?
As always, just my Hubby. Except for 1 story that He was telling me that went on for a while :) He did pretty good with leaving me be. We can't not talk to each other, so it was more interruptions than if He had been working.

5. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far?
Nada.  Same old thing.  Same boring (sorry, but they are) questions, same boring challenges.  I'm having a good time reading and chatting with a friend who is also reading for Dewey's.

Dewey's 24 Hour Read-a-Thon ~ Opening Meme

It's almost Dewey Time!

I ended up sleeping pretty good, which with how I sleep, is very good. Still waking up but feeling good so far. Ready to get started with a ton of reading!! If you post on a blog, feel free to leave me a link and I'll come visit you today.  I don't do Twitter, but I love regular (not Tumblr) blogs and love to visit others still posting on blogs.

Opening Meme:

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
Sparta, NC ~ the middle of no where.  :)

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Last Dewey's I was BURNT out after a huge challenge at GoodReads and really wasn't feeling books that that point. I think I did ok though. I'm still in more of a slump than I usually am, having read only 62 books so far this year. Typically I'd be a bit higher than that, especially with my 300 book Challenge for GoodReads. Anyways, still being slow with reading so have a few I'm looking forward to, mainly my re-read (audiobook) of "The Great Zoo of China" bu Matthew Reilly that I'll save for the end hours when I'm getting sleepy, and also the audiobook of "Bound" by Benedict Jacka ~ the 8th book in the Alex Verus series, and one of my favorite narrators.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
As always ~ EVERYTHING!!  I'm one of the junky eaters, though Hubby and I have been losing weight and while I'm going to endulge this weekend, I usually don't snack as much anymore. So for this Dewey's all I have snackwise is the Recee's Spread with Graham cracker and Cupcake Goldfish. That's it! We'll have Dunkin Donut donuts for breakfast, pizza for lunch and chicken strips and tots for dinner.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
HI! I'm Karsyn, nearing 40 (though much much younger in spirit), deeply in love with and married to my high school best friend. I LOVE to read, obviously, and am blessed with a ton of time to read. In a typical month I will read 15-20 books, often more, and when there's something going on, like Dewey's, I read a ton more! Beyond my books, I'm a gamer, and I built my own Gaming PC, 2 years ago, which I named Widget (after The Night Circus character). Widget is GREAT and we've had so much fun playing games on him!! Right now if I'm not reading, I'm playing Elder Scrolls Online ~ anyone else? Love to have more ESO friends!   :)

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This is my 7th Dewey's so I'll do what I've been doing, try to read at least 20 total hours of the 24, if not a little more with the help of audios. My Hubby has the day off, it's always easier to do Dewey's when He isn't here, but hopefully nothing too crazy will happen so I can just read.

Dewey's!

It's that time of year again, and apparently the only time I come by my blog anymore. I'm so bad at keeping with things, even when I enjoy it!

Perhaps Dewey's will help me come back around here and I hope to be here more to promote my new (not yet to be created) Challenge Group at GoodReads. It's been in the works for a while now, and will be coming soon, so leave a message if you'd like me to send you an invite when it opens.

Meanwhile, it's time for Dewey's. This will be my 7th Dewey's, I started in April of 2014 and every year I've gone the full 24 hours. I plan to do the same again this year! Looking forward to it.

If you come by, please say HI! It seems like blogs don't get as much love as Twitter or Instagram (hate both, but especially Twitter). I'm still hanging on with my blog and visiting other bloggers. I hope you'll say HI if you visit me.

Onwards to Dewey's. See you in the morning!
