Camp NaNoWriMo - Day 5 - the best day yet!

Day 5 was AMAZING!! Oh my god. :)

Not only did I fix the chapter that I was stuck on, and made it workable, I also took my two MC girls out on a date, and damn, they are ADORABLE!! :) They made ME laugh out loud and I was the one putting them to page.

On Day 5, I finished chapter 8 and wrote all of the first draft of Ch 9! The date was a huge success, if I do say so myself. And, even more amazing were the word counts!! 5,880 was what I had at the end of writing the chapter but I'm (as of writing this at the end of Day 5) doing a bit of tweaks, so see below for my updated counts. I'm hoping for 6k! :)

I'm taking Saturday off for writing to participate in Dewey's 24 hour read-a-thon, see my Opening Meme. This is my 12th Dewey's and unlike the 11 before, I don't plan to stay up the full 24 hours. I have every other time and loved it, but I'm already wanting to get back to my story, so I'm taking the day to read, will stay up as late as I can (3-4am probably) and then sleep for a while so I can write again on Sunday.

Camp NaNoWriMo - Day 4

Day 4 was productive in more ways than one! :)

I wrote in the morning and exceeded my daily goal, writing a complete first draft of a new chapter. Then, while watching baseball and thanks to my friend Maggie Hemlock - see her MPREG series here, I finally settled on a place for where my town (fictional) will be, AND the name of the town! This has been plaguing me since I started expanding the story, as I had two locations in mind for different reasons. I finally discarded one, leaving me with a general location but not a name. Maggie said something to me that got my brain going and I found the name and a complete backstory of the town. I was super excited!

I was going to write more, but decided to leave it for day 5.

Camp NaNoWriMo - Day 3

Day 3 started off super rocky!

I started in on Chapter 8 but couldn't find a focus and couldn't get the story to flow into what I wanted. By 1pm I had written less than 500 words, not pleased with most of it.

I stopped writing to watch the game (Go Nats) and after the game, I decided to move on from the chapter I was doing, into a later chapter, not determined when yet, just later. 3000+ words later I finally finished the first draft of that Chapter. So, I was pleased. Highest word total so far in the early month. After the hiccup, things went well today!!

On the 2nd graph, it shows the amounts I need to write to reach my goal, in blue, in green are what I actually wrote.

Day 2 was more productive than Day 1. :)

My normal day word count goal is 2500, though I have some lower days set, and two days for Dewey's completely off. I was super pleased with Tuesdays writing as I exceeded my goal and the story flowed well.

I'm Participating in Camp NaNoWriMo - Day 1

For the first time ever, I am participating in a NaNoWriMo event, in this case the Camp NaNo of April.

I've written off and on most of my life, but I've always been a PenPal writer, rather than a storyteller. I've written pals off and on since I was young after camp writing to friends. I'd always been interested in writing a bit more, but never thought I had any ideas.

Writing for NaNo came about when a Penpal of mine sent me a writing prompt. We had decided to send each other prompts to write more creatively. What should have been a one or two typed page story, ended up being over 5400 words. From there, it just grew and I decided to do Camp NaNoWriMo to write more of the story.

I know I don't have a lot of people coming around, but I thought I would do an accountability on here to keep track of what I'm doing. Dewey's Sign-up

That time of the year again! Once again, too quick that it comes around. How is it almost April?

I believe this is my 11th or 12th Dewey's. I really need to find out which I'm on. It's been a lot.

Each year I've gone the full 24 hours and it's been great.

This time, I'm not sure I will and that's because for the first time ever, I'm joining in Camp NaNoWriMo. I've never done any of the NaNoWriMo's before, it will be a new experience for me and I'm looking forward to it.

I'm definitely going to read all of Saturday and stay up as late as I can, which for me is 2-3, but if I'm itching to get back to my story, then I'll go to bed for the first time so I can rest and get back to writing. But maybe I'll need the break and I will stay up. Not sure! We'll see how it goes, but it's the first Dewey's that I'm not focused on staying up the full 24 hours, which is weird!

We'll see what happens. Anyone else doing Camp NaNo? I'd love to connect with others. I am in a Cabin but they don't seem overly chatty yet.

A Hot and Fast read!

Two chicks stuck in an elevator getting it on. It was a super short story, but packed into the pages was just hot sex. It's a pure smut kind of book, my kind of book. Definitely kept my attention and I liked the characters despite there not being much to them. It was mainly a book of sex and that was fine to me. Only not 5 stars because I wanted more. Short stories are too... well.... too short!! :D

I rather enjoyed this mind bending time travel book. It was well done and quite unique. As someone who reads a LOT of time travel, that's saying something.

This book takes you on a wild ride. From the start you are sent on a journey and are never sure when or where our MCs are. Some of the parts of the book are quick and precise, while other parts are more drawn out and detailed. The book revolves around two MCs, Holly and Cam as they go on their own journey through time.

Holly is recruited to be a librarian of some special books, but I say what they are, because that is part of the plot. They are very special books, very unique ones, none Holly has heard of before, yet is very important to her life. Holly and her assistants travel through time to get or do what is needed.

Time moves back and forth through this book. One minute is the past and one minute it's the future. In addition to the MCs there's a rather interesting fellow along for most of the journey. He's inception is rather cool and a lovely touch to the book.

It's hard to say too much about the book without giving too much away. It's just something that should be read without any preconceived notions going in. If you are a fan of of time travel, I do recommend this book. It's different and unique, unlike many other time travel books out there. The characters are lovable and quirky, not without some flaws. They make the book feel genuine. Go read it when it's released, you won't regret it!

Kendra Elliot is one of my automatic read authors. Doesn't matter what it's about or what the setting is, I'm going to read it.

This is the 5th book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series, an FBI agent and prepper. While not my favorite of Kendra's characters, I do really like Mercy and Truman especially. In this book, they are on the trail of a decades old mystery, a robbery in which part of the gang got away and weren't found. In addition there were random acts property destruction and it seemed like everyone in town was keeping secrets.

This was a really good story, that actually kept me guessing. Usually I know who did what early on, so its always a nice surprise when I'm surprised by the outcome of the story. In this one, half the town seemed to be involved in one way or the other, with all the in and outs of everything that was happening. It's a small town community that pulls together to help one of their own.

Highly recommended for fans of romantic suspense. Not recommended as a stand alone, definitely read the series in order as all the major players grow from book to boo and you meet new people in new books along the way. Kendra is a great author, so check any of her books out today!
