My favorite that I am in right now is Elle's, from The Erratic Project Junkie, 2014 Bracket Challenge. I've chosen to use a 64 book bracket, and as of right now I am only picking the best of the best. As I know I'll read probably double of 64, I'm taking my favorites first, then if I have to fill in a few really good ones at the end, I'll do that then. As of now, out of the 90+ books I have read so far this year, I've only added 14 to the bracket (I added one more I realized wasn't on there, after I got this ready to post).
Here's what my bracket is looking like, so far ~
I am also doing the 2014 Book Blogger Summer Program hosted by Katie's Book Blog. The challenge is just to make a dent in your TBR by challenging yourself whatever number you choose to do from May through September.
I choose to read 75 books in those 5 months. With my successful Bout of Books Binge Reading, and my audiobook reading of The Series of Unfortunate Events, I've completed 32 books ~ 42% of my total. So yup, doing well there. That also helps with my overall GoodReads goal, which I am 30 books ahead on. Currently I have my goal as 152 books, but I am thinking of raising it back up to 200, which is where I was going to have it in the first place, but I put it down to 152 because my reading slowed down at the end of last year, due to the arrival of our Playstation 3. :)
Right now, the only challenge that is actually helping me pick my next book is one I am doing for my group, Carpe Librum, which is at Swap-Bot. This current reading challenge (I host one every 2 months) is Reading Bingo. The challenge started 5/19 and I currently have 1 completed with half way through a 2nd one. I plan to do either, B across or G down, but likely both. :)
That's it for Challenges for me right now. I'm always on the lookout for good ones, if anyone has any suggestions, and I have my eyes on a few upcoming ~
(Bout of Books is in August)
Do you love challenges?
What challenges are you doing right now?
I enjoy doing challenges if they are easy going. I'm also participating in the Summer Reading Challenge and made sure to set my goal low enough not to stress me out. I have been barely able to finish one book a week lately, so I'm glad I set it at a manageable number. With Bout of Books - I was able to get a nice head start on my goal!
ReplyDeleteAwesome that you're over halfway already to your Summer goal! I bet you will go way over 200!! :)
Oh yeah that Bingo challenge looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteEEE! I love it. Yay for the 64 slot bracket! You'll no doubt have an easier time filling yours than I will. Although I will say that putting the challenge out there has made me get on my game. Looking good lady!
